I don't have a green thumb.

In fact, I'm not really outdoorsy.

Needless to say, when selecting plants for our landscape being a low maintenance perennial was imperative to me.

And they are lovely.

However, despite their beauty, they grow and some of them spread and what is designed to look like orderly appeal can become simply too much.

Crowded.

With our neighbor's house on the market, we are extra conscientious of how the curb appeal of our home might factor into the mind of potential buyers, so this week the garden got a little extra love (thanks to my husband). The lilies were cut back, some purple flower I can't name was shaped, weeds were pulled, and unwelcomed growth was taken away.

I took a moment to stand back and take a look, and had to smile at how this earthly garden picture is a heavenly reflection .

I let what "is" in my life naturally grow. It isn't necessarily bad or wrong, The lilies were made to spread. The purple plant is meant to grow free. But, the striking allure of each these and all the other flowers is more noticeable and stands brighter when they don't blend into a cramped up whole.

And the same is true for you and me.

Cut back time on the socials, the Lord says, to more fully appreciate the world in front of you. It's focus on the life God has given.

Weed out thinking every moment needs to be productive, the Lord says, and indulge in a good book and coffee. It's spirit-giving for the soul.

Minimize ordering online, the Lord says, to absorb extra bonding time with the kids who LOVE another store run. It's time sensitive connection.

And in the process of reshaping, I can better appreciate all I have.
